When To Contact A Doctor
The majority of patients adjust to their new life with a tube well. In some cases, patients may need to consult a doctor regarding their feeding tube. These times must be known by all patients. Patients will have to call a doctor if the tube falls out. The doctor must reinsert it. Patients must monitor the site of insertion when the tube is first placed. If they notice drainage at the site of insertion after a few weeks, patients should call their doctor. They should also contact their doctor if there is any bleeding at the insertion site. If the tube is not working, if you have any problems with the formula or if it looks like an infection, then contact your doctor. Fever, swelling and redness at the site of insertion are all signs of infection.
