What to avoid when stressed?

Fried Foods

When stressed, many people turn to fried foods for comfort. Fried foods are French fries, hamburgers, chicken and onion rings. Consuming these foods, however, is not healthy even though they may taste good when under stress. This is because the oil used in frying these foods contains a high amount of trans fat. Cooking with Olive Oil reduces trans fat and improves food. Fried foods are unhealthy. When they are breaded and then fried, the calories are higher. This increases the risk of obesity.

A study also revealed that eating a lot of fried foods, especially over a long period of time, can double a person’s chance of developing type 2 diabetic. It has been shown that people who consume two or more fried foods per week are twice as likely to have insulin resistance. The frying of foods can also cause a chain reaction which leads to acrylamide production, another carcinogen. This may explain why cancer rates are higher in people who consume a diet dominated by fried foods.
