Some oils, like avocado and olive oil, can be used to break a fast. There are also other types of oil that people can consume without any major issues. As long as they are consumed in normal amounts, algae and oil will not break a fast. These supplements are low in calories and do not contain any carbs that can be digested. While fasting, BCAAs (also known as branched-chain amino acid) should not be consumed in oil form or any other form. They cause an insulin reaction that prevents individuals from effectively losing weight. Some experts are divided about the effects of other oils on a fast. MCT Oil, for example, technically breaks a diet since it is not coffee, tea or water. Clinically, however, the oil shouldn’t be able to have an impact on metabolism that would stop weight loss.
