Eye Drops
A doctor may prescribe eye drops if the cause of the bulging in the eyes is an infection. Sometimes eye drops are prescribed to soothe pain or moisturize the eyes. Different eye drops treat different conditions. Some eye drops are sold over-the counter to treat the dryness of the eyes. Others are prescribed to treat minor injuries and infections. The length of time that patients need to use the eye drops will vary based on what condition they are treating. Some patients need only to use eye drops for a couple of days while others require more intensive treatment.
Always use the drops as directed. The drops may not be fully absorbed if the correct technique isn’t used. Ask a friend or family member to assist if the patient has difficulty placing eye drops into their eyes. Before administering eye drops, make sure that the dropper is clean and your hands are also.
