Developmental Coordination Disorder
The term “dyspraxia” can be used to describe developmental coordination disorder. Individuals with developmental coordination disorder can experience multiple problems, including speaking, socializing and using fine motor skills. Children with developmental disorder may have difficulty performing certain tasks such as writing or bouncing the ball. The clumsiness is due to their inability to control their movements. Treatment for developmental coordination disorder is possible with occupational therapy and perceptual motor exercises. Teachers should know how to adapt their classrooms for students with developmental co-ordination disorder.
