3. Use grid to calculate rule of thirds
Rule of Thirds is a simple iPhone photography tip. This rule divides your image’s field into a grid of three by three.
By placing your main subject along this line, you can create more visually appealing images.
To activate the gridlines, go to the camera section in your iPhone settings and toggle the grid switch on.
4. Find the leading lines
By incorporating long, straight lines in your photograph, you give viewers a map of your photo that will help them understand it. These lines are known as leading line, because they guide the eye around the image.
Leading lines can be used to divide a photo into different parts and add visual interest.
Leading lines from the edge of your field to the center of focus will give you a better sense of depth in your photos.
5. Create a feeling of depth
We tend to think of the frame as two-dimensional when we are first learning how to compose a photo. Our eyes are easily tricked to see depth in flat objects like photos.
Use this to your advantage by emphasizing depth within your composition. You can use leading lines to achieve this, as we saw above, but it’s not the only option.
To create depth, place a subject in close-up against a background that is out of focus.
The opposite is also possible. Try framing the main subject of a photograph behind an object that is slightly out-of focus in the foreground.
Include distinct visual elements in different depths to create a sense of depth. This technique is especially useful for outdoor or landscape photography.
