The Better Way to Measure
A person’s BMI is not always the best way to measure their progress. This may be due to factors such as muscle mass, diet, body type, and more. These numbers are not the best way to track progress. Experts suggest that tracking the body fat percentage and waist-to hip ratio is more effective. Or, even better, one could ignore these numbers altogether. It can be stressful to try to lose a few pounds, or to change your BMI. Sometimes it’s better to ignore it and focus on how you feel. Set realistic goals, such as reducing a few clothing sizes or running a 3-5k race. Then work on your time to achieve them. All of these methods are better ways to achieve fitness goals, without having to rely on numbers on the scale.
