Can Detect Blockages
Atherosclerosis is a common heart disease where the arteries of an affected person become hardened or constricted due to a buildup in cholesterol or fats. It can take years for this buildup to occur before symptoms become serious. Coronary angiograms detect blockages in the heart or surrounding it early. This is before they cause congestive cardiac failure and blood clots. Coronary angiograms can detect these blockages, which are so small that they may not be detected by stress tests or stethoscopes.
