2. Critical Thinking
We rely heavily on technology to automate certain parts of our jobs, but we would not trust it to take executive decisions. In a world where everything is automated, machines and artificial intelligence will be able to help us in our professional endeavors. Leah Weiss is a Stanford lecturer and contributor to our CareerAddict research. She noted that “there is no way” to replace critical human components in organisations, such as emotional intelligence, strategic decisions, and ethical barometers.
Critical Thinking is a skill that will help you analyse situations, think of multiple solutions, and base your decisions on logic and reason.
3. Creativity
Creativity has allowed the world to evolve. Robots were created by humans.
Joseph Pistrui, in an article for Harvard Business Review argues that jobs requiring imagination, creativity, and creative analysis, are harder to replace. In fact, artificial intelligence and machines cannot meet the creative demands of intuitive and artistic jobs.
It is therefore essential to be creative in order for you to develop new products, technologies and services in all industries.
4. Active Learning
Future workers must be able to adapt to changes in the environment.
As workplaces evolve, so too should your skill set. You will need to be a lifelong learner in order to achieve this.
A staggering 93% of respondents to our survey said they were open to opportunities for reskilling. This is a positive number that suggests most people are willing to retrain or sharpen their skills in order to fit into the future workplace.
To avoid a skills gap that could be caused by new technologies, it’s very likely that employers will offer their employees opportunities to learn throughout their lives.
5. Programming
The younger generation is gaining more and more experience in programming. Our study revealed that Gen Zers are the most skilled in programming compared to all other generations.
is essential for the workplace as computers are already a major part of the work environment. Programming will allow workers to automate menial tasks, reducing the time they spend on them. This will improve their productivity and efficiency.
