Overview of the 5:2 Diet

How The 5:2 Diet Works

The 5:2 is a modified version of intermittent fasting. The plan allows people to eat a certain number of calories during the fasting period, instead of completely abstaining from food. It is often easier for patients who are on a diet to maintain it as a lifestyle. The patient can choose the days of the week that they want to fast. This flexibility is appreciated by many people. This flexibility allows patients to move their fasting days to other days of the week if they receive a dinner or party invitation at the last minute. Experts recommend that beginners of the 5:2 plan consider fasting Mondays and/or Thursdays. The patient can continue to eat as normal for at least two or three days prior to each fasting date. This makes it easier for the patient. Fasting on two consecutive days is not recommended. This is because fasting more than 24 hours without medical supervision can be dangerous.

Next, learn about the eating habits on fasting days.
