7. Customer service skills
Although not all administrative positions are customer-facing, excellent customer service skills can help you to work more effectively with your colleagues in a business setting.
Many of the skills that we have already discussed, including verbal communication and written communication as well as problem-solving, are included in customer service skills.
When building relationships with customers, soft skills such as patience, empathy and a positive outlook are essential. It’s also a plus if you have previous experience in answering telephone calls.
Understanding their needs and addressing them clearly will help you create a positive interaction with everyone.
You may need to handle customer complaints. You can diffuse these situations by being calm and professional.
8. Cash handling
Staff in the front office may be required to accept payment for goods and services. In a medical practice, for example, you might have to settle an account.
Cash or credit cards can be used to make payments, so a POS system that is easy to use will prove beneficial.
Your resume can be enhanced if you have experience with a cash register.
You can give change and process payments without errors if you possess basic math skills. You can still show that you are a quick learner if you do not have any cash handling skills.
