Treats Minor Scarring
The skin is repaired by microneedling, which also helps to treat minor scarring. Microneedling’s effects on acne scars has been extensively studied. One of many studies that has been conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of this procedure is a 2015 study. Ten Egyptian participants (half men, half women) received treatment every other week over the course of three month. After treatment, patients were instructed by the researchers to apply sunscreen with at least 30 SPF and topical antibiotics throughout the day. Three months after the initial treatment, scars improved by 50 to 60 percent. Microneedling is also effective in treating scars that are not acne-related, such as those caused by trauma, surgery, or burns.
