Metformin Side Effects Guide

Weight Loss

Weight loss is a common side affect for patients who are taking metformin to treat diabetes. This side effect can be caused by other factors. Metformin users are more likely than others to experience weight loss when they also suffer from nausea and vomiting. This is because nausea and vomiting reduce appetite. Metformin patients eat less, so they don’t consume as many calories. The less calories they consume, they lose more weight. Metformin can cause weight loss in patients for a variety of reasons. The good news is, in most cases this side effect will go away once the body has adjusted to metformin.
