Heartburn
Heartburn can also be a common side of metformin. It is a burning feeling in the chest that occurs behind the breastbone. Heartburn is a common side effect that can worsen after eating, taking medication, bending over, or lying down. Heartburn can be uncomfortable but is generally harmless. Heartburn usually disappears when the body adjusts to metformin. Patients should consult their doctor if heartburn continues for more than two weeks or becomes worse.
