Tech and Home Office Hacks
1.If you enjoy reading in the bath, seal your tablet in a bag with a zipper. Use a 1 US gal (3.8L) clear bag with a zip-lock closure. Seal a piece paper in the bag and submerge it for one minute. If the paper is still dry, then your tablet will also be dry.
- Keep your tablet as dry as possible. Do not try to read under water!
2.You can use springs from old pens to reinforce the ends of charger cable. Charger cords tend to bend and kink near their ends (where the cables plug into your device or the wall). Pull apart old, dried-up pens to find the springs. Wrap springs around the cable ends to protect them while still allowing them to flex.
3.Binder clips can be used to organize cords along the edge of your desk. This hack is great if you have a desk cluttered with charger cables, printer cable, ethernet cable, etc. Binder clips should be large enough to attach to the edge, but small enough that the cable head will not fall through.
- If the cord head won’t fit through the wires of the binder clip, you can squeeze each side of the wire to release it from the clip. After you have pulled the cord head through, squeeze the wires again to secure them.
4.Use empty toilet paper tubes to organize cords. To store a shorter cord, place the toilet paper tube in the shoebox and then feed the cord into it. Use the toilet paper tube to cover a longer cord. Loop it several times around the tube and then slide the tube over it.
5.To increase the volume, place your phone in a glass or cup. Try this hack if you find yourself sleeping through your alarm, even when the volume is set high. Put the speaker of your phone (which is typically at the bottom) in the bottom cup. You’ll be surprised by how loud it sounds!
- This trick can be used to amplify music. However, it will take some time to find the right cup, glass or mug to use that won’t distort your favorite songs.
6.You can use a cassette case to make a sturdy and cheap phone stand. If you have some old cassettes in their cases, try this hack. Then, open the lid of the case as far as possible and lay it on a table or desk. The lid’s slot will allow you to view your phone from a comfortable angle.
- Some smartphones that are larger may not fit in the slot.
