Childcare Hacks
1.A rubber band can be used to prevent children from locking the door. Loop one end over a knob and make a figure 8 over the latch. Then loop the other end over the second knob. When positioned in this manner, choose a thick rubber band with a strong elasticity.
2.Create a “laundry hamper play tub” in your bathtub. Fill the tub with water and place a rectangular standard laundry basket in it. Place your child’s toys and your toddler in the laundry basket. Drain the tub after bathtime and remove the basket with the toys in it!
- This product is not intended to replace an infant bath tub. It is only suitable for children who can bathe in an ordinary tub.
- While bathing, supervise children at all times.
3.Create a bead bracelet for children with your number. Purchase colorful bracelet beads, and have your child thread them on the bracelet. Choose numbered beads to string on your bracelet so they correspond with your phone number.
- It’s also a good idea to write the child’s first name.
- No bracelet can replace proper supervision.
4.To keep your child from rolling out the bed, use pool noodles. Place a pool noodle on each side of the mattress, along the long edge. The noodles will be held in place if you tuck the fitted sheet under the mattress. The noodles create small bumps that will help your child stay on the edge of their bed.
- This is a temporary solution for an occasional issue. If your child is prone to rolling out of bed, you should invest in bed rails.
5.Trace the child’s foot on paper before you go shoe shopping. Don’t guess if a pair will fit. Bring their trace with you. Trace both of their feet either barefooted or with socks. The shoes should fit, at least for a couple of months.
6.You can use paper muffin or cupcake wrappers to catch the drips of frozen treats. The bottom of a wooden stick from your child’s favorite frozen treat, such as a Popsicle bar or ice-cream bar, should be poked through the bottom of he paper wrapper. Slide the wrapper to the bottom of the treat, and it will catch any drips that may occur.
- Any paper wrapper is fine, as long as it has foil on the outside.
