Invented: 2019
Average price: Unconfirmed
Osaka in Japan has some of the highest levels of rainfall throughout the country. This is true even during its driest month. The average temperature in Osaka is 60.6 degrees Fahrenheit, with an annual rainfall of nearly five feet. Osaka’s inventors created rain indicators to give people a heads-up.
They are designed to fit into elevators. When it rains, they turn red and illuminate an umbrella icon with water dripping. This warns people to prepare their umbrellas. It is a free service for people and has been available for about a year.
Most of us will remember countless times when we realized we didn’t have an umbrella with us in the middle a heavy downpour. This device is also able to predict if you will need an umbrella at a later time in the day.
