Cilantro can help promote healthy digestion. Cilantro, like most plant material, is rich in fiber. Fiber helps regulate digestion and bowel movements. Studies have shown that coriander oil can speed up digestion. Thirty drops of a herbal coriander medicine taken three times a day by patients with IBS had a significant impact on the study. Comparing the volunteers to a placebo group, they experienced a significant decrease in abdominal discomfort, bloating, and pain. Coriander seed oil can be used to stimulate appetite in traditional Iranian culture medicine. Coriander has been shown to increase appetite in rats. But more formal human studies are needed.
