Guide to the Healthy Uses of Hydrogen Peroxide

Guide To The Healthy Uses Of Hydrogen Peroxide

You can use hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash to kill bacteria. It removes mucus in the mouth. It can be used to treat a condition such as postnasal dripping. Hydrogen peroxide is also effective in treating minor mouth irritations, like those caused by canker or gingivitis. Hydrogen peroxide releases oxygen when it comes in contact with the mouth of an individual, causing foaming. The foam collects dead skin cells, bacteria and other germs, helping to clean and disinfect an area.

Before using hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash, individuals should combine the solution with water in equal amounts. Swish the solution in their mouth for at least one minute over the area that is irritated. When using hydrogen peroxide in a solution for mouthwash, individuals should not gargle it or swallow it. Poison Control should be contacted if they swallow hydrogen peroxide. The majority of people can rinse their mouths up to four times per day with hydrogen peroxide. However, they may follow the specific instructions of their dentist or doctor.
