Guide To Epigallocatechin Gallate (EGCG)

How It Works

Recent discoveries have helped researchers better understand how epigallocatechin galate works. Free radicals, which are molecules produced by the body, can cause damage to cells. The cellular damage that occurs can cause a variety of health problems. By neutralizing free radicals, antioxidants and other substances help protect the body. This catechin showed very strong antioxidant activity when tested in lab on human skin and organs cells.

Apoptosis occurs when the immune system removes cancerous, infected or damaged cells. This process can be accelerated by epigallocatechin galate, resulting in a faster and more effective removal. This catechin also has anti-inflammatory qualities. Cytokines are proteins that affect the immune system and can cause or reduce inflammation depending on their type. This catechin suppresses proinflammatory molecules. These are the ones which cause inflammation.

Find out more about the benefits and uses of this catechin.
