Clean Hands And Contacts
There is no need to touch your eye with your fingers, or any other object. Contact lenses are the only exceptions to this rule. Wash your hands every time you touch your eye to avoid dirt, bacteria and parasites entering the mucous layer. If your hands are dirty, you run the risk of causing irritation, scratching sensitive parts of the eyes, or getting an infection.
Wearing contact lenses? Always wash your hands, and soak them in solution before putting on your lenses to protect your eyes and disinfect the lenses. Never leave contact lenses in the eyes or sleep with them there. If your eyes are already inflamed, don’t force yourself to wear contacts. Instead, use a pair of glasses as a back-up to help promote healing. To maintain optimal eye health, it’s important to keep your hands and contact lenses clean.
