Nasal polyps can be benign growths in the nose. Inflammation is the underlying cause of these growths. Asthma, Hay fever chronic sinus infections, Churg Strauss syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis and certain anti-inflammatories can cause prolonged inflammation in the nose cavity. It is also possible that nasal polyps are hereditary. Polyps can cause a constantly runny or stuffy nose as well as nasal congestion, sinus discomfort, sleep-apnea snoring and chronic postnasal drainage.
There are several ways to eliminate polyps in the nose. Some people use saline nasal sprays for nasal polyps, or corticosteroid nasal saline. Neti pots are used by some patients to treat nasal polyps. Occasionally, however, other medications may be required to shrink nasal polyps. In severe cases, surgery may be necessary. Diet is also important for polyps on the nose.
Dairy Products
Dairy products include yogurt, butter and cream. They also include cheese, custard and ice cream. Milk is also a dairy food. Nasal Polyps obstruct the nasal passageway and cause mucus to build up. This leads to nasal congested. The body produces more mucus when a person consumes dairy products.
The fat in dairy products can also cause mucus or phlegm that is produced by an individual to be thicker than normal. Symptoms of nasal polyps can be made worse by the combination of mechanical obstruction and thickening mucus caused by dairy consumption. A person who is suffering from nasal polyps and consumes dairy products regularly is more likely than others to suffer from a chronic blocked nose and nasal congested.
