Sleep disorders
Patients with fibromyalgia often experience sleep problems. Doctors can diagnose fibromyalgia by examining the patient’s sleep patterns, along with their physical symptoms and cognitive symptoms. Insomnia and disturbed sleep can lead to fatigue during the day in fibromyalgia patients.
Sleep problems are common in fibromyalgia patients. Patients with fibromyalgia suffer from mental and physical issues due to poor sleep. A study found that 99 percent fibromyalgia sufferers had poor sleep that affected their physical pain, fatigue and social functioning. As early management of sleep issues is important, they can worsen other fibromyalgia symptoms. If you have any sleep issues, contact your doctor right away. Your doctor will likely perform a physical examination of your muscles and joint to check for accompanying symptoms. Your doctor may suggest a sleep test to rule out sleep disorders such as sleep apnea.
