Room 39 in North Korea
Room 39 (also known as Bureau 39) is a secretive North Korean group believed to be engaged in illicit activities for the purpose of generating foreign currency. It’s believed that it was founded in the late 1970s. It’s also suspected of being involved in drug trafficking and counterfeiting foreign currencies.
The Room 39 exhibit is a fascinating example of North Korea’s efforts to circumvent international restrictions and generate revenue for its country. It is now closed to the public due to its secrecy.
