Chia Seeds: Health Benefits

May Alleviate Chronic Inflammation

Chia seeds can help reduce chronic inflammation. Many people struggle with this issue, but don’t even realize it. Inflammation can occur in any part of your body. The cause could be anything. Inflammation is a body’s response to infection and injury. It aids the immune system in combating these issues. Studies have found that chronic inflammation in the body can increase cancer and heart disease risk. Twenty diabetes patients were studied for three months, and they consumed 37 grams of chia seed daily. The inflammatory markers had decreased by 40% on average at the end of three months. Study participants who consumed wheat bran did not show any significant reduction in levels. This study is promising, but more research with larger groups will be needed to determine the effect of chia seeds on inflammation.
